We're on the road again! This time, we're heading to Rapid City, South Dakota for two weeks! After the last two sites, we're looking forward to staying in one place for longer than one week. And this drive was better because there were a couple cool places to stop at along the way.
First, we stopped at the state line to get some brochures about places to see. We obviously know about Mount Rushmore, and one of Josh's coworkers suggested the Badlands. But we wanted to learn more about other options. Nothing gets you more excited about seeing a new place than talking with people working at visiter centers; they are always so eager to share ideas with you.
There was another rest stop right on the Missouri River, which had a nice trail to walk to stretch our legs as well as the Dignity of Earth and Sky, a monument to honor the cultures of the Lakota people. I wish the photo could capture how stunning it was to see in person.
Now that we have all these brochures and we're looking through our options, we're realizing that there's a lot to do near Rapid City: Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Custer State Park, the Badlands. Are we going to be able to see enough in just two weeks?
